This can be a tough month for detox. It's cold and our bodies are craving warm comfort foods, but these needn't be unhealthy. Start the day with warm water and a squeeze of lemon juice, nothing new, but it's a great habit to acquire. Drink plenty of herbal teas throughout the day to warm the body - often we mistake thirst for hunger. Home made soups are a great way to nourish the body. Home made means they can be low in salt and free from preservatives.
Fresh vegetable juice is still be a great breakfast option. The ginger in the recipe below is a wonderful winter warmer. If you need a little extra help to get going in these dark mornings add a 1/4 teaspoon of matcha green tea. It's a great energy booster and really high in anti-oxidants. Available from Tea Pigs.
February's juice
Happy Morning
- Ingredients:
- 1/2 green apple, 4-5 carrots, 3 fennel stalks, 1/2 cucumber, handful of spinach, 1-2 inch piece of ginger.

Process all ingredients through your juicer and enjoy!
Tip: juice the apple first, followed by the rest of the ingredients.
